July 16 2008 - Andersen & Koyen Lead Team Merlin at Norway MWSS

Tommy Andersen, Nick Stagl, Jordon Bachmeyer, Jeffrey Bartz, Andrew Hobbs, Sage Wallace and Matt Stagl all represented Merlin in the HPV Jr. Lite class. Andersen used his Woltjer power to score the pole in qualifying as well as the prefinal and feature wins. Nick Stagl also had a top five finish.

In HPV Jr. Sportsman, it was Kyle Kalish setting the pace in qualifying, with Josh Hotz, Sawyer Haese, Joel Jens, Ben Hewitt, Claire Decker also carrying the Merlin colors. Kalish struggled a bit though as the day wore on, but was able to finish 7th in the final.

In HPV Lite was TJ Koyen aboard his Switch powered MR29, who swept the program, earning the pole in qualifying as well as the prefinal and final wins. Travis Kosik struggled on his MR30, being at a significant weight disadvantage in the Lite class, but improved all day.

It was Koyen again in Yamaha Medium with another clean sweep of the day’s activities. This time however, his Merlin team mate and MR30 pilot, Jason Foley, would come in second.

HPV Jr. Heavy was another Andersen clinic, as he made another clean sweep, this time with Switch power. Nick Stagl showed some speed as well and managed to follow in Andersen’s tracks for awhile, but in the end, had to settle for second. Honorable mention goes to Andrew Hobbs who turned some of his best laps of the year, but landed just outside the top five.

Blake “O.G.” Wankowski struggled to get his Merlin/Leopard on track all weekend, fighting gremlins and rapidly changing track conditions.

Kalish, Haese, and Jens all qualified in the top 10 in Yamaha Jr. Sportsman. Some skillful maneuvering through a last lap melee earned Haese third, which was one of his be finishes of the year. Kalish & Jens wound up in the top 10 as well.

The dynamic duo of Foley and Koyen also led the way in Sr. Supercan qualifying with Foley cruising to the pole, prefinal, and final wins. Koyen held on for fourth in the final.
